PEARL RIVER RESORT GOLF CLASSIC QUALIFYING ROUND ENDS WITH
TOP SCORER SHOOTING FIVE UNDER
CHOCTAW, MISS. (Aug. 13, 2007) – There were 39 golfers vying for one of the 10 coveted spots reserved for the qualifying round in the third annual Pearl River Resort Golf Classic, a stop on the National Golf Association’s Hooters Professional Golf Tour.
John Whittaker of Springdale, Ark. led the pack with 67, five under par to ensure his spot in the tourney played on the acclaimed Azaleas course at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. Ryan Henry of Tulsa, Ok. and Jason Dillard of Cullman, Ala. both shot a 68; Jarret Hamilton of Richardson, Tx., Chad Ginn of Alexandria, La. and Ned Michaels of Brentwood, Tenn. each scored 69; Kevin Jones of Terry, Miss. shot a 70; Pier Roy of Cleveland, Miss and Thomas Hagler of Rocky Face, Ga. shot a 71; while Ben Lammi of Payson, Utah shot a 72 and rounded out the 10 finalists.
They have now earned a position onto this tour event, which kicks off Thursday morning with 168 professional golfers seeking a share of the $200,000 purse. The event will continue Friday morning with the top 60 scorers and ties moving on to the Saturday and Sunday rounds.

In fact, 50% of the players that earned their 2007 PGA Tour card, and 47% of the players that earned full exempt status on the Nationwide Tour started their careers on the NGA/Hooters Tour.
