Wittenberg Wins Pearl River Classic
The Pearl River Resort Classic
Azaleas Course-Dancing Rabbit GC
August 10-13, 2006

Choctaw, MS (August 13, 2006)…Casey Wittenberg (Memphis, TN) fired a five-under par 67 in Sunday’s final round of the Pearl River Resort Classic over the 7128 yard, par 72 Azaleas Course at Dancing Rabbit GC to garner his first career Hooters Tour title.

“I have played really well in the seven events that I have played this year and made some good money but this week everything seemed to come together unlike they have done when I played on the PGA and Nationwide tours in the past,” stated the twenty-one year old Wittenberg.

“The Hooters Tour is great because it teaches you to go low each and everyday because if you don’t someone will definitely catch you out here.”

The Oklahoma State product fired rounds of 69-67-67-67 for four day total of eighteen-under par 270 and a one shot victory over third round leader Chris Stroud (Brunswick, GA). Stroud closed with a final round two-under par 70 for a four day total of seventeen-under par 201.

“I felt really comfortable today playing with Chris (Stroud), he and I are really good friends it was easy to push each other today, “said Wittenberg.

Todd Pinneo (Fayetteville, AR), DJ Fiese (Smyrna, GA) and Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL) finished in tie for 3rd place, four strokes behind Wittenberg at fourteen-under par 274.

Michael Hodges (Belden) headed up the Mississippi contingent in the Pearl River Resort Classic this week after carding a four day total of six-under par 282. Tupelo’s Steve Thomas and amateur Jonathon Randolph (Brandon) finished the event at two-over par 290, while Madison’s Chad Wellhausen finished at 291 and Union’s Robert Ammon finished at 295

Casey Wittenberg collects $21,351.20 for his first career Hooters Tour title while Chris Stroud takes home $10,618 for his second place efforts.

The Hooters Tour heads to Dothan, Alabama next week for the 4th Annual Dothan Classic.
