Two qualify for spots in the U.S. Amateur at Dancing Rabbit
CHOCTAW, Miss. (Aug. 2, 2006) – Chris Rogers of Franklin, Tenn. and Beck Troutman of McComb, Miss. each earned spots in the U.S. Amateur Championship during a two day qualifying event held at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club July 31 and Aug. 1.
Rogers’ two-day score of 139 topped 58 other golfers representing nine states and two foreign countries. He shot a 70 on Monday and a 69 on Tuesday.
Troutman shot a 73 and 69, a combined 142, winning the second qualifying spot for the championship.
The two winners will compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship held at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. Aug. 21-27.
