Dancing Rabbit to host
2006 Mississippi State Amateur Championship
CHOCTAW, Miss. (May 30, 2006) – The Mississippi State Amateur Golf Championship will take place on the Azaleas Course of Dancing Rabbit Golf Club Thursday, June 1 through Sunday, June 4.
The field has been set at 156 players, which will be cut to the first 60 and ties after 36 holes of play. It is a very strong field with five former champions on the schedule.
The first groups will tee off on holes one and ten at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. On schedule to tee off at 2 p.m. on hole one is the current defending State-Am Champion, Clay Homan of Starkville; Jr. Amateur Champion, Freddie Janneck of Madison; Sr. Amateur Champion, Bobby Maddox of Columbus; and Mid-Amateur Champion Scott Rhodes of Ridgeland.
“The course is in great shape and will be playing right at 7,000 yards,” said Mark Powell Dancing Rabbit director of golf. “We invite everyone out to see the state’s top golfers in action.”
