Dancing Rabbit golf director awarded
by Gulf States PGA
Mark Powell receives Junior Golf Leader Award
CHOCTAW,
Miss. (Dec. 13, 2004) Mark Powell, Dancing Rabbit Golf Club's director
of golf, received the Junior Golf Leader Award for 2004 by the Gulf
States PGA during a recent ceremony held at Annandale Golf Club in
Madison, Miss.
To be recognized as one of the top junior golf leaders in the Gulf
States is truly an honor, Powell said.
This award is designed to recognize a PGA golf professional who is
a leader in junior golf, reflects the qualities and ideals of those
who work with our nation's youth, and provides opportunities and experiences
for juniors to learn and play golf, explained Robert Brown, Gulf States
PGA executive director .
In the past , Powell served six years of service as Gulf States
PGA Junior Golf Committee Chairman, hosted numerous junior golf events
and developed a Sports Camp attracting youth to tennis, fishing, swimming,
and golf activities during the summer months.
We are very excited that Mark was honored with this award, said
Pearl River Resort interim p resident , Sheila Martin. He has been
a great asset to this resort, and we look forward to all he has planned
for the future of Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.
The Gulf States PGA is one of 41 Sections of the PGA of America. It
is comprised of some 380 members and apprentices working at 160 facilities
throughout Louisiana and Mississippi . The Gulf States PGA conducts
90 golf events annually. Founded in 1969, the mission focuses on promoting
interest, participation, and enjoyment in the game of golf; establish
and maintain professional standards of practice; and, enhance the well
being of golf professionals.
Pearl River Resort, located on Hwy. 16 W. in Choctaw, MS is a development
of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Pearl River Resort is comprised
