Mississippi and Dancing Rabbit Golf Club Earn “Best-Of” Honors
from ‘The Golf Insider'
National Golf Publication Cites the Choctaw Indian-Owned
Casino Golf Resort and the State's Golf-and-Gaming Options as a
Whole as Exceptional in its Annual “Year in Golf Travel: Platinum Places” Awards

( JACKSON , Mississippi ) – The Mississippi Development Authority
(MDA) Division of Tourism today announces the state has been singled
out for distinction for the quality and value of its golf-and-gaming
destinations, and the Pearl River Resort/Dancing Rabbit Golf Club
specifically in its annual “The Year in Golf Travel: Platinum
Places” 2004 awards.
The Golf Insider , the leading golf-and-travel rating publication,
has honored Dancing Rabbit and Pearl River Resort in the category
of “Best Golf Resort Value.”
Located in Philadelphia , Miss. , Dancing Rabbit/Pearl River Resort
is joined by Casa de Campo (Puerto Rico), Mt. Tremblant ( Quebec
, Canada ) and Primm Valley Resorts ( Nevada ) as the premier golf
resort values.
Furthermore, when discussing 2004 travel trends in general, The
Golf Insider lauds Dancing Rabbit and Mississippi for their golf-and-gaming
initiatives and for providing quality and value to consumers.
This is the second consecutive year Mississippi has earned acclaim
from The Golf Insider . Last year the state was ranked No. 2 in The
Golf Insider's “Top Ten Golf Travel Discoveries for the Year.”
“We are delighted to again be honored by The Golf Insider
,” says Leland Speed, Executive Director of the Mississippi
Development Authority. “The publication's objectivity is unsurpassed.”
Mr. Speed is referring to The Golf Insider's policy of not accepting
advertisements from destinations so to preclude any question of their
unbiased mission to inform their subscribers of the world's very
best places to visit.
This is the latest of many distinctions earned by Dancing Rabbit.
GOLF Magazine (September 2004 issue) rated the club No. 34 on its
biennial list of the best public courses in the United States . This
was the fourth consecutive improvement Dancing Rabbit has achieved
on this coveted course compilation.
Dancing Rabbit features two outstanding 18-hole layouts – the
Azaleas and Oaks courses – both designed by Tom Fazio and Jerry
Pate. “To continue to be recognized by national golf publications
is a great honor," said Dancing Rabbit Director of Golf Mark
Powell. “It's high praise for Dancing Rabbit and we are dedicated
to continuing our commitment to excellence.” Pearl River Resort,
located on Hwy. 16 W. in Choctaw, Miss. , is a development of the
Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Pearl River Resort is comprised
