Pearl River Resort announces the hiring of
Mark Powell as Dancing Rabbit Golf Club’s Director

CHOCTAW, Miss.–Pearl River Resort today announced
the hiring of Mark Powell, as the Director of Golf at Dancing Rabbit
Golf Club. Powell will be responsible for the management and operations
of the Resort golf department, including the clubhouse, restaurant,
grounds maintenance and golf operations.

“ We were very impressed by Mark during the interview process
and feel he will be a valuable asset to the team,” said Pearl
River Resort President Jay Dorris. “His knowledge and experience
will continue to solidify Dancing Rabbit as a premier course in the
southeast.”
Powell, head professional at the Beau Pre' Country Club in Natchez,
Mississippi, since it’s inception on July 17, 1999, has been
a head golf professional since 1985. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana,
Powell has been in Natchez since 1990 and helped the Belwood Country
Club membership build and relocate to the renowned Beau Pre' golf
course.

into the marquee resort destination in the South,” Powell said. “The

Resort offerings.”
As the head golf professional at Beau Pre', Powell has hosted the
Farm Bureau Invitational, Mississippi PGA Championship, Mississippi
Women’s State Amateur, Mid-South Golf Association Mid-Amateur
and Senior Championship, Mississippi Cup Matches, Gulf States PGA
Cup Matches, Gulf States PGA Senior Championship, USGA Senior Amateur
qualifier, Mississippi Seniors Golf Association, Gulf States PGA
Junior Golf Tour, Insurance Youth Classic State Championship and
Buick Scramble Sectional Qualifier.
Powell is currently the Gulf States PGA Section Secretary and has
served in every office of the Mississippi PGA and as president from
2001-2002. Powell has been the Junior Golf Chairman of the GSPGA
since 1997 and served on the Rules of Golf Committee, Tournament
Committee and Awards Committee for the Gulf States. He has also served
as Tournament Chairman of the Farm Bureau Invitational, Starter at
the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, Hole Captain at the 1999 U.S. Women’s
Open at Old Waverly and instructor for the USA Today Hotline at the
PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit.
Two-time Gulf States PGA Maxfli Player of the Year, Powell is a
seven-time member of the Mississippi PGA Cup Team and serves as the
Team Captain. Powell was awarded the Mississippi PGA Golf Professional
of the Year in 2001.
Dancing Rabbit Golf Club includes two 18-hole courses, The Azaleas
and The Oaks, designed by Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate. Dancing Rabbit
has been nominated to several awards including being rated 35 in
Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play.”
Pearl River Resort, located on Hwy. 16 W. in Choctaw, MS is a development
of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Pearl River Resort is
comprised of a number of individual properties. These include: Golden
