Dancing Rabbit Golf Club at Pearl River Resort Leaps Two Spots to #35th on Golf Magazine's 2002 "TOP 100 COURSES YOU CAN PLAY"

Sept. 30, 2002

CHOCTAW, MS - Dancing Rabbit Golf Club at Pearl River Resort continues to rake in both national and international awards in the world of golf. Earlier this week, Golf Magazine announced the club¹s climb to the 35th spot on their biennial "TOP 100 COURSES YOU CAN PLAY". Dancing Rabbit¹s third consecutive listing on this coveted course compilation, the club continues to climb the rankings. A Tom Fazio/Jerry Pate design, Dancing Rabbit was initially listed among the nation¹s elite facilities at #63 in Golf Magazine¹s 1998 edition. In 2000, the club made one of the biggest jumps in the history of the rankings by leaping an unprecedented twenty-six places to claim the 37th position. The 2002 award is more exceptional due to the fact that 24 courses from the previous ranking were eliminated by bold new course designs from across the U.S., a "TOP 100 YOU CAN PLAY" record. Dancing Rabbit currently resides at #35, a scant few spots separated from the likes of Pebble Beach, Pinehurst #2 and 2002 U.S. Open venue, Bethpage (Black).

To compile the rankings, according to Golf Magazine "a ballot with more than 400 daily-fee, resort and semi-private courses was sent to a trusted panel comprised of PGA section directors, regional golf association poo-bahs, golf scribes, and well traveled gypsies who know what they¹re looking at. Fittingly, we also welcomed the public to participate in the selection process: The Top 100 ballot was posted on our Web site, www.golfonline.com for a few weeks last spring. Interested parties who had played no fewer than 20 courses on the list were invited to cast their votes. When all the votes were tabulated, a numerical average was established for each candidate that received a minimum of 10 votes."

This latest award establishes Dancing Rabbit as the most celebrated golf facility in not only the state of Mississippi, but also a region including Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, and even golf-rich Alabama.
